Fleet & Planner Guide

• Fleet & Cost Setup — describe your depots, vehicles, drivers and cost model.
• Route Planner — turn a day's collections into costed, optimised routes you can adjust by hand.

Both need you signed in, because fleet data and saved plans belong to your account.

1. Add the depot name.
2. Enter its postcode and use the pin button to look up coordinates automatically.
3. Or type latitude and longitude by hand.

Vehicles start and finish at their home depot, so depot accuracy matters most.

• Identity — name, registration, haulier, type, home depot and in-service flag.
• Capacity & shift — payload (kg), container slots, shift start/end and maximum hours.
• Costs — £/mile, £/hour, daily fixed cost, mpg and a CO₂ factor per mile.

Vehicles marked out of service are ignored by the optimiser.

Drivers hold a default vehicle, shift times, maximum hours and availability. The cost model holds the shared assumptions used by every plan: fuel price, driver hourly rate, overtime multiplier, tipping cost per tonne, road factor, average speed, CO₂ per litre, and the default service time and load per site.

Each section saves separately — nothing applies until you click Save.

• Day — jobs are built from the filtered operations data for that collection day.
• Objective — optimise for cost, mileage, driving time or balanced workloads.
• Respect haulier — keep sites with their existing haulier rather than reassigning freely.
• Optimise — assigns and sequences jobs depot → sites → tip → depot, respecting capacity, shift length and time windows. Reset clears the plan.

The route board lists every vehicle with its jobs plus any unallocated work. Drag a job between vehicles to reassign it, or drag within a vehicle to change the visit order. Metrics and the map update immediately.

• Each vehicle's route is drawn in its own colour; select one to isolate it.
• Turn on animation to watch vehicles run their rounds.
• Live totals: cost (fuel, labour, fixed, tipping), miles, driving hours, utilisation %, CO₂ kg.
• Job counts show allocated versus unallocated work.

Name the plan, set its date and click Save. Saved plans keep their routes and job order so you can reopen or compare them later.

• Everything unallocated? Check you have an in-service vehicle whose depot has coordinates.
• Sites without a located pin can't be routed — fix them in the Unlocated panel on the map.
• Utilisation under ~60% usually means too many vehicles for the day's volume.
• Set per-site service minutes and time windows where they matter; defaults apply otherwise.
